What is Loan Prepayment?

Loan prepayment means paying off a part or the entire loan amount before the scheduled tenure ends. This reduces your outstanding principal, which in turn reduces the interest you pay over the remaining loan period. Most banks allow prepayment for home loans, though some may charge a prepayment penalty.
