Date : 22nd of January, 2022

Today is a busy day for me. Now I am in my hotel room in Kolkata. Time is 10 pm. Today I went to Santipur station to go to Kolkata on a piece of study purpose for two days. I entered the station and found the place very crowded. There were passengers, vendors, hawkers, porters, beggars and what not. Here and there people were busy talking, hawkers were trying to sell their commodities shouting their peculiar trade cry. There were different types of stalls selling toys, tea, betel leaves, cigarettes, fruits and other things at different corners of the station. There were long lines of passengers waiting for their tickets in front of ticket counters. The times of arrival and departure of trains were being announced through loud speakers now and then. When a train entered the station, passengers hurriedly went to it to enter the compartment. While many were busy to detrain the train in a hurry. Ticket collectors were seen checking tickets of the incoming passengers and out-going passengers at the gate. I saw many red-liveried porters coming in and going out briskly with heavy loads on their heads. Whistles of the engines and the din of the crowd kept the station always awake. But what stroke me most was the condition of beggars and vagrants. They had no proper clothes on their body. Their body was dirty. There was no one to take care of them. Hope, government would take necessary steps to solve the problem of these poor people.
