Hooghly, 4 June, 21 : Our district Hooghly is indeed agrarian. There are many villages in our district and most of the inhabitants are engaged in agriculture. There are also some towns in our district. As most of the people are farmers and belong to poor families, their health condition is not up to the mark. The government has taken up many steps or measures to improve the health services in this district. To improve the health services in rural areas the government has established a lot of health centers, Super Speciality Hospital, medical colleges in many rural areas. Even medicines are supplied to the patients totally free of cost. Not only that, the government has launched many schemes so that the people get treatment free of cost in hospitals or in other nursing homes. Health workers go from door to door to improve health awareness among the common people. Various types of immunizations are done from time to time. Special care has been taken to improve the pregnant woman’s condition. In spite of that, diseases like dengue malaria still breakout in our areas. more attention should be given to control mosquito-borne diseases.
